Europe!

30/4/2012

I'm excited that my quilt "Dumb Questions No.1: Where Do You Get Your Ideas?" has been selected for European Art Quilts VII. This exhibition will open at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham August 16th-19th 2012 and then tour to:
Deutsches Textilmuseum Krefeld, Germany, 23rd September-3rd February 2013
Breda's Museum, Breda, Netherlands, February-May 2013
MIAT, Gent, Belgium, 25th October- 26th January 2014

It feels really weird that my work is going off having an adventure in Europe and I'm stuck here in my shed at the bottom of the garden. I guess because my work is so personal, it feels like a little part of me will be missing until 2014, and then I think "get a grip, woman - you can't be jealous of a quilt...!"  It made me think about why I create work, the relationship between a piece of work and its maker, and the fact that work goes on to have a life of its own, maybe influencing other people that I will probably never meet. Cool!
